Along with the 2021 Super Cub, Honda has also unveiled the 2021 Monkey in the UK. It has received quite a few mechanical updates for the year that make it a more practical offering.
The daft little Honda now gets its juice from a cleaner motor, similar to the Super Cub 125. Its 124cc air-cooled 4-valve engine makes 9.3PS and 11Nm, the same as before. But the peak power is now available at 6,750rpm against 7,000rpm and the peak torque arrives at 5,500rpm instead of 5,250rpm.
The most noteworthy update is the new 5-speed gearbox. Yes, the 2021 Monkey gets an additional cog, aiding a smoother spread of power and torque throughout the rev range.
Apart from that, Honda has installed a new airbox for better airflow and a new exhaust system to meet the stringent emission norms. The 2021 Monkey retains the same braking setup: 220mm front and 190mm rear disc and an IMU-based ABS unit.
The front and rear springs have been tuned for added comfort. Honda also offers an optional luggage rack in case you plan on munching miles. It gets a 5.6-litre fuel tank.
The 2021 Honda Monkey is priced at Rs 4.01 lakh in the United Kingdom and will be available at dealerships from August. It’s available in three paint schemes: Pearl Glittering Blue, Pearl Nebula Red, and Banana Yellow. Given the exorbitant price tag, the Honda Monkey is unlikely to come to India anytime soon.
